Day 4: Laying Sins at the Cross
Reading: 1 John 1:8-10
Devotional: The thief didn't minimize his crimes or compare himself favorably to others. He simply acknowledged truth: "We are receiving what we deserve." Confession requires this kind of honesty. When we confess our sins, we're not informing God of something He doesn't know—we're agreeing with what He already sees and placing our trust where it belongs: on Jesus. John assures us that confession leads to cleansing, not condemnation. The cross is where our guilt meets God's grace. Every lie, every lustful thought, every prideful moment—all can be laid at Jesus' feet. He doesn't turn away the honest heart.
Reflection: What sin are you trying to justify rather than confess? Bring it honestly to Jesus today.
