Faith Like a Child: Love Like a Child
What does it truly mean to love like a child? Not a naive or uninformed love, but a love that is spontaneous, expressive, and inclusive -- the kind that throws itself fully into the arms of another without hesitation or self-consciousness. This sermon draws us into that question with warmth and honesty, centering on 1 John and its powerful declaration that God has lavished his love on us, calling us his very own children. We are reminded that love is not a feeling to be described but an action to be lived. From the great commandment in Mark chapter 12 -- to love God with everything we have and to love our neighbors as ourselves -- to the sobering words of James about faith without deeds being dead, the message is consistent and clear: love that stays in our hearts and never reaches our hands is no love at all. We are invited to examine whether we are willing not just to say we would die for others, but to actually live for them -- to serve, to share, to show up.
