Day 4: Teaching the Next Generation at Home
Reading: Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 2 Timothy 1:3-7
Devotional: Moses commanded Israel to teach God's commandments diligently to their children, speaking of them at home, on the road, in the morning, and at night. The faith was never meant to live only within the walls of a sanctuary. It was meant to fill the home. Paul recognized this reality when he recalled how Timothy's faith first lived in his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice before it lived in him. The most powerful theological classroom in the world is the ordinary home. Parents and grandparents carry an irreplaceable role in shaping the faith of the next generation through daily rhythms of prayer, Scripture, and honest conversation about what it means to trust Jesus.
Personal Reflection: What does faith formation look like in your home right now? What rhythms, if any, are in place to help the next generation grow in their knowledge of and trust in Jesus?
Practical Application: Choose one simple, sustainable faith practice to begin or renew in your home this week. It might be a short prayer at meals, a Bible story before bed, or a brief conversation about what God is doing in your family's life.
