Day 5

Day 5: Building the Ministry, Not Just the Building
Reading: Psalm 127:1
The psalmist declares that unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain, and unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake for nothing.

Devotional:
A church can have a beautiful building and an empty mission. A church can have debt retired and vision abandoned. The building is never the point. It is the ministry made possible inside the building that matters for eternity. Ascension Lutheran built a renovated space. But the greater work, the one that will outlast the walls and the roof, is the discipleship of children who will one day tell their own children about the God who never changes. Every generation must decide whether it will be faithful stewards of the story. A building can stand for a hundred years. A child who comes to know Jesus carries that into eternity. Build accordingly.

Reflection Question: Are you more invested in the structures and programs of your church, or in the people those structures and programs are meant to serve?

Practical Application: This week, take one concrete step to move from being a spectator in your church's ministry to an active participant. Volunteer, give, pray publicly, or simply introduce yourself to a family you have never spoken to before. The ministry is built one relationship at a time.
