Day 4: The Armor of God and the Battle for the Next Generation
Reading: Ephesians 6:10-18
Paul urges believers to put on the full armor of God so they can stand firm against the devil's schemes, reminding them that the struggle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil.
Devotional:
A young man gave a sermon on Ephesians 6 as part of a confirmation service. He understood, even then, that two realities are always in tension: God desires relationship with his people, and the enemy works against that relationship at every turn. The battle for the next generation is real. The enemy does not ignore children. He targets them. That is precisely why the church cannot be passive about youth ministry. Every child who walks through the doors of a church carries a spiritual history and a spiritual future. The congregation that arms itself in prayer and shows up with intention for those children is fighting on the right side of an eternal battle.
Reflection Question: In what ways does your church actively engage in spiritual warfare on behalf of the children and youth in your community?
Practical Application: Set aside time this week to pray specifically by name for the children and teenagers in your congregation. Ask God to protect them, draw them to himself, and raise up faithful adults to walk alongside them.
