Day 3: Turning and Becoming
Reading: Matthew 18:1-5, where Jesus calls his followers to turn and become like children in order to enter the kingdom of heaven
Devotional: The word "turn" is significant. It implies that we are currently facing the wrong direction. Much of adult life trains us to face inward, toward self-reliance, self-protection, and self-sufficiency. Jesus calls us to turn away from that posture and toward him. This is not a call to be naive or immature. It is a call to redirect our dependence. Children are not weak because they trust their parents. They are wise because they know who holds the greater strength. Turning toward God is not surrender in defeat. It is surrender in wisdom.
Practical Application: Reflect honestly on one area of your life where self-reliance has become a barrier to trusting God. Pray a simple prayer of turning, asking God to reorient your dependence toward him.
