Day 2: The God Who Became Near
Reading: John 1:1-18, where John describes the Word becoming flesh and dwelling among humanity
Devotional: God did not shout instructions from a distance. He came close. He entered into the full experience of human life, knowing hunger, grief, exhaustion, and rejection. This is the foundation of childlike faith: the one we are trusting is not a distant, indifferent force but a God who has walked where we walk. A child runs to a parent because the child knows the parent. The more deeply you understand that Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us, the more natural it becomes to run to him rather than away from him. Nearness changes everything.
Practical Application: Spend five minutes in silence today, simply acknowledging that God is present with you in the room, in the moment, in whatever you are carrying.
