Day 3: The Word That Builds and the Word That Restores
Reading: Matthew 7:24-27 — Jesus describes how those who hear his words and act on them are like builders on solid rock, while those who ignore them build on sand.
Devotional: Jesus does not simply offer good advice. He offers a foundation. The difference between the two builders in his story is not intelligence or effort. It is whether they chose to build on his word. David's life crumbled when he stopped listening to God and started following only his own desires. The storm came, and everything he had built through his sin collapsed under the weight of Nathan's confrontation and his own guilt. But when he returned to God's word, restoration began. The rock is not a concept. The rock is Christ himself. Every day we choose what we build on.
Reflection: What does your daily life actually rest on? What would be exposed if a storm came today?
Practical Application: Establish or recommit to a daily time in Scripture this week, even if it is only ten minutes. Let the word of Christ be the first thing that shapes your thinking each morning.
