Day 4: Sent by the King
Reading: Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Corinthians 5:18-20
Devotional: After his resurrection, Jesus did not retreat into glory and leave his people to figure things out alone. He came to ordinary men and women and commissioned them. He declared his authority over all things and then said, go. You are sent. The Great Commission is not reserved for missionaries and pastors. It is the calling of every person who has been claimed by Christ. Paul describes believers as ambassadors — representatives of the King sent into the very places where the enemy has done his worst. Your neighborhood, your workplace, your school — these are not incidental locations. They are your Jerusalem. You have been sent there on purpose.
Reflection: Who in your immediate circle of daily life needs to experience the grace and hope of the kingdom? How might you be the one God has placed there to bring it?
