Day 3: The Kingdom Has Come — and Is Coming
Reading: Matthew 4:17; Matthew 6:9-13; Colossians 1:13-14
Devotional: When Jesus began his ministry, his first announcement was that the kingdom of heaven was at hand. Everything he did — every healing, every parable, every meal shared with sinners — was a demonstration of what life under God's reign looks like. Then on Good Friday, the kingdom went to war. On Easter, the kingdom won. The prayer Jesus taught his disciples to pray is not wishful thinking. It is a bold declaration that heaven is meant to break into earth, and that we are participants in that movement. We have been rescued from darkness and transferred into the kingdom of the Son. That transfer changes everything about how we live.
