Day 4

Day 4: Interceding for Those We Love
Reading: Romans 10:1 -- Paul expresses the deep longing of his heart and his prayer before God for his people, that they might be saved.

Devotional: Augustine's mother, Monica, wept and prayed for her son for years before he came to faith. She did not live to see every fruit of those prayers, but she prayed with the confidence of someone who knew that God hears. Paul carried the same burden for his own people, a burden so heavy he called it the desire of his heart. Intercession is not a small thing. It is one of the most profound acts of love available to a parent, a grandparent, or a congregation. You cannot make anyone love Jesus. But you can bring their name before the one who loves them more than you do, and you can trust him with what happens next.
