Day 5

Day 5: Grace Received, Grace Extended
Reading: Micah 7:18-19; Colossians 3:12-13

Devotional: Jonah knew the character of God well enough to quote it back to him -- gracious, merciful, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love. He knew it and was still furious that God lived it out. It is possible to know the theology of grace without allowing it to transform the posture of your heart. Colossians calls us to clothe ourselves in compassion, patience, and forgiveness, grounding that call in a simple and powerful reason: God has forgiven you. The grace you have received is not meant to be stored -- it is meant to move through you into your marriages, your homes, your communities, and your world.

Reflection: In what relationship or circumstance is God calling you to extend the same patience and understanding that he has shown you?

Practical Application: Write a brief prayer of gratitude for God's patience toward you specifically. Then ask him to make you a person through whom that same patience flows naturally into the lives of those around you.
