Day 4: You Are Not Worthless -- Neither Are They
Reading: Romans 5:6-8; Ephesians 2:4-5
Devotional: One of the most destructive things anger does is reduce people. It strips them down to their worst moment, their most irritating habit, their most frustrating decision, and declares them worthless. But God has never looked at you that way. Romans makes clear that while we were still in our worst condition, God moved toward us in love through Jesus Christ. You are not worthless to God -- you are worth dying for. And here is the weight of that truth: the same is true of every person who has ever made you angry. God's love does not rank people by how much they deserve it.
Reflection: How does remembering God's unconditional love for you personally change the way you see those who frustrate or disappoint you?
Practical Application: The next time someone irritates you, silently remind yourself: "God calls this person worth dying for." Let that truth interrupt your frustration before it becomes contempt.
