Day 4

Day 4: Thinking of Yourself Less
Reading: Romans 12:3-8

Devotional: C.S. Lewis wisely noted that humility isn't thinking less of yourself—it's thinking of yourself less. Paul echoes this in Romans, urging us to have sober judgment about ourselves while recognizing we're part of a body with many members. Pride obsesses over self: my accomplishments, my rights, my reputation, my comfort. Humility shifts focus outward: How can I use my gifts to serve others? How does my role support the whole body? This doesn't mean denying your God-given talents; it means stewarding them for the community's good rather than personal glory. Today, identify one gift God has given you. Now ask: How can I use this to build up someone else rather than build up my own image? Let your answer become your action.
