Day 2

Day 2: Turning Toward the Least
Reading: Mark 9:33-37

Devotional: Jesus placed a child—the least valued member of first-century society—in the center of His status-seeking disciples. His message was radical: greatness in God's kingdom is measured by our willingness to serve those who cannot advance our agenda. Pride makes us calculate the value of relationships: "What can this person do for me?" But Jesus calls us to turn toward the poor, the powerless, and the pitiful—not because they can help us, but because they bear God's image. Who in your life have you overlooked because they offer no social capital? A lonely neighbor? An elderly relative? A struggling coworker? Today, intentionally serve someone who cannot repay you. In doing so, you welcome Christ Himself.
