Day 4: Childlike Hope in a Cynical World
Reading: Matthew 18:1-4 and Matthew 19:26
Devotional: Jesus does not call us to be childish — naive about pain or blind to the realities of a broken world. He calls us to be childlike — to carry the kind of hope that refuses to be buried by cynicism. Children do not yet believe that the future is closed. They believe anything is possible. Jesus says that with God, it is. The world will work hard to convince you that hope is foolish, that the future is fixed, and that the best days are behind you. But Jesus has overcome the world. That is not a sentiment. That is a fact that changes how you face every single day.
Reflection: Where has cynicism crept into your view of the future? How might you invite God to restore a childlike trust in his goodness?
