Day 2: Joy That Does Not Depend on Circumstances
Reading: Philippians 4:4-7 — Paul urges believers to rejoice in the Lord in every situation, to bring their needs to God through prayer and thanksgiving, and to trust that God's peace will guard their hearts and minds.
Devotional: Paul wrote these words from a prison cell. He had every reason, by the world's measure, to be discouraged and defeated. Yet he writes about joy as though it is the most natural response to life. That is because joy, unlike happiness, is not produced by favorable circumstances. It is produced by a settled trust in a God who is near. When a child faces a problem, they do not sit alone and worry. They run to someone bigger. Paul is inviting you to do exactly that. Bring it to God. Trust that He is close. Let that nearness be your joy.
