Day 5: Spontaneous, Expressive, Inclusive Love
Reading: John 15:12-13 -- Jesus commands His followers to love one another as He has loved them, and He defines the height of that love as the willingness to lay down one's life for one's friends.
Devotional: A child does not calculate before running into the arms of someone they love. They simply go. There is no hesitation, no concern for appearances, no weighing of what they might receive in return. That spontaneous, unguarded love is exactly the kind of love Jesus models and calls us toward. His love was not selective. It reached the outcast, the doubter, the denier, and the stranger. The sermon reminds us that God so loved the world -- not a curated group, not the deserving few, but the whole world. That same inclusive love is now entrusted to us. We are to be the ones through whom others catch a glimpse of Christ coming toward them in their moment of need.
Personal Reflection: Is there someone you have been withholding love from -- through distance, resentment, or indifference? What would it look like to move toward that person the way Christ moves toward you?
Practical Application: Reach out today to someone you have been distant from or someone who would not expect to hear from you. A phone call, a handwritten note, or a simple visit can be the moment another person sees the love of Christ made real through you.
