Day 3: Faith That Works
Reading: James 2:14-17 -- James argues that faith which produces no visible action in the face of human need is, by its very nature, incomplete and unable to save.
Devotional: Faith and love share the same problem when left only in the mind -- they accomplish nothing. James is not suggesting that we earn our salvation through good works. He is saying that genuine, living faith cannot remain invisible. It shows itself. It moves. It responds. A faith that sees a brother or sister without food and offers only warm words is a faith that has not yet understood what it has received. When God's love truly takes root in a person, it produces fruit. That fruit looks like action -- serving, giving, visiting, calling, staying. The sermon reminds us that when we do these things for others, we do them for Christ Himself, as He taught in Matthew 25.
Personal Reflection: How would someone who spent a week observing your daily life describe your faith based on your actions alone, without hearing anything you said about your beliefs?
Practical Application: Choose one act of service this week that costs you something -- time, money, or convenience -- and complete it not to be seen, but as an offering of faith made visible.
