Day 4: Jesus Comes Down the Mountain
Reading: Matthew 17:1-13; Philippians 2:5-11
Devotional: On the Mount of Transfiguration, Peter wanted to build tents and stay in glory. But Jesus came down. He always comes down. Jesus didn't choose the comfort of heaven over the brokenness of earth. He descended to meet you in your pain, your sin, your struggle. This is the heart of the gospel: God doesn't wait for you to climb up to Him; He comes down to you. Whatever mountain you're facing today—grief, anxiety, failure, loneliness—Jesus meets you there. He doesn't abandon you to figure it out alone. He walks down into your mess with grace and truth. Take comfort: your Savior is not distant or detached. He is Immanuel, God with us, who came down and continues to come to you in His Word and sacraments.
